Griffith Observatory taken from the highest point in Griffith Park, Los Angeles below. Yes, I know it is hazy. It is Los Angeles. We get 4 clear days a year, and this wasn't one of them! Yes, those are the natural sunrise colors, I didn't need to play with them. No idea how this will do, never entered an anual "Best of" before...

Yes, his name really was Griffith J. Griffith, and aside that little ordeal about shooting his wife (she needed shooting!), had a great career as a mining expert and philanthropist. About the land donated to make a park for the people of Los Angeles, he said this:
"It must be made a place of rest and relaxation for the masses, a resort for the rank and file, for the plain people," Griffith told the Los Angeles City Council when he donated the land. "I consider it my obligation to make Los Angeles a happy, cleaner, and finer city. I wish to pay my debt of duty in this way to the community in which I have prospered."

Rarely does ones visionary idea become reality in such a concrete manner!

Love the color of the sky, however maybe a polarized filter would have helped. Also having a hard time picking a focal point

Nice view - haven't seen the Los Angeles downtown skyline and the Griffith Observatory in years. I like how you composed the shot in a long letterbox format so that you can see the sweep and span of the city. I am waffling on weather the composition would be stronger if the observatory was on the far right with the downtown buildings dominating the left half or if would be best if the observatory was on far left looking out at the expanse of city to the right. Hard to tell, but I think the composition would be stronger if you found a spot where the tall buildings of downtown had some separation from the the observatory; as it is now they are clumped together such that it is hard for these two main elements to shine.
