Holiday spirit:

I think this photo sums up holiday spirit in a nutshell as it shows the beauty of decorations and the length that people go to, to stick to traditions that have been around for centuries.

Very Christmassy! Good job, Adam.

Although I think that a square crop would have made this more effective, kudos for getting the tricky white balance of a night image. Very festive and twinkly.

what a great christmas image .. love the way those red decorations on the tree seem to be nearly dancing .. they add a wonderful feeling of celebration .. ppl do go to a lot of trouble to decorate their houses, their trees & their cities to celebrate christmas .. we have places around near where i live where they go to extraordinary lengths .. its like they've put on a show for other ppl to admire their creations .. their houses decked out in lights with santa clause and other christmas type statues included in the mix ..
your lighting on this shot is excellent and the tones are lovely . i would'v been inclined to crop off a bit at the bottom tho .. :)

What a lovely outdoor tree! I see your point - this does seem to be a lot of work, but it is also something that can be enjoyed by all who pass it, so seems quite worthwhile! Very good job with the exposure and focus. As someone else mentioned, a slight crop off the bottom wouldn't hurt. This would make a nice card!

Very decorative tree, that's for sure! Overall nice work, especially with capturing the lights without too much glare. But the centredness of the tree is almost too easy. It would have been cool to see a lower POV used, or maybe a batch of ribbons missing from the tree in one area. Just a little something extra to capture the viewer and make their eye linger. The snowballs in the fg are a fun touch, glad you included them!

A solid entry. You have done well to expose the lights and have nicely captured the ribbons. Well done

A bit too much foreground in this, but not seriously so. There's a lovely, sentimental mood to this for sure. It was a very hard exposure to balance, and you did it pretty well, all in all. I'm left with the feeling, however, that you could have found a better, more dynamic way to shoot this tree, a better angle. Still, in a sense the pure, serene *centeredness* of it may be the ultimate expression of the coming of our Savior into our lives, of His taking up residence in our hearts, so who am I to say...? :-)

A tough exposure as you don't want to overexpose the lights but at the same time show some detail in the tree. If you had a tripod you might have considered using a smaller aperture (f/16) to create little star bursts which could add more interest to the image. I would crop off about 1/2 inch from the bottom. Well done!

A ribbon should be given for the ribbons.

The lighting is very nice in this photo. I especially like the dark background it sets the tree off nicely.

This is certainly a very pretty tree and your choice of exposure shows it off to very good effect. The symmetrical composition certainly works buts I'm not sure it makes for the most interesting picture you could have got from this scene.

It is like you have bowed to the needs of the scene rather than manipulating the scene (through the photographic choices you make) to your own artistic intent.

Your comments help with that though - you have said you wanted to capture the efforts people go to - in that regard a straight-up presentation of the tree certainly remains true to that aim.

Very nicely executed image.
