 Nestlé semi-sweet chocolate morsels, coated with vegetable oil to give the shiny "melting" appearance instead of the unattractive out-of-the-bag appearance. (My first shots were out-of-the-bag and didn't look very appealing. I liked the look with the morsels "oiled up" much better.)

I fully expect the shallow DOF haters will hammer this...

Taken with the Canon 100mm/ƒ2.8 Macro.

Hmmm, thought I had commented on this during the challenge. I really like this one. I don't mind the shallow DOF, it's kind of nice, but I don't know about the choice of focal point. Either a deeper DOF, or a focal point at the very bottom of the frame would be interesting to compare. This kind of blurry->sharp->blurry shallow DOF sometimes doesn't feel "right" to me, though I usually like shallow DOF. Good shot though.

So you used vegetable oil, but were the chips also actually melting? I'm thinking maybe not, after looking really close.

Excellent dof and lighting. One of my favorites in this challenge.

I like the DOF here - just pickingout a narrow band in the middle. Makes it feel like a landscape of chocolate. Nice detail, good light, color. 7

Nice sheen on slightly melting chocs. Good use of DOF. Lacks a focal point.

good shot. I would have preferred a different depth of field and show the chips in the front in focus a bit more

Simple but I like the abstractness of it. Melting seems to have been a good choice. Takes away that chalky look chocolate chips have right out of the bag.
