Challenge: From the Ground Up VI (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-350D Rebel XT
Lens: Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6
Location: Sydney, Australia
Date: Dec 7, 2010
Aperture: f/11
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/20 sec
Galleries: Black and White, Action
Date Uploaded: Dec 8, 2010

Manually focused by guesstimation (focused on the pedals). Put the camera on timer and held it between my feet while pushing out my knees. Decided to stop the car for better focus :-)

My daughter (who was with me) loved the shot. My wife (who hates DPC) is not impressed and believes it will bomb. Sadly, she’s usually right. I, however, really like this and am quite hopeful. I’ve done a few things during PP that I didn’t record but after at least 50 odd challenges without hitting the top five (or 10) and not interesting enough to be called out for verification, why bother. I know nothing was done that would not meet basic let alone advanced editing.

Prediction? I feel this should be my next (and only 2nd) entry to reach 6 but my (excessive) gut tells me it will be mid to low 5’s. Oh well...

Post challenge

Art is right and wrong. I'm very happy with the result of this challenge - especially with all of the comments! My wife would not be happy with the result as it will only keep on encouraging me. However, she only know's of about 7 challenges that I have entered. I believe about 85% of my shots are taken between 3pm and 5pm and edited within 20 mins of the shot. The only way she knew of this shot was she got home early - busted!.

6+ That should make you happy and make your wife hate DPC a little less. ;-) I think it's great.

DNMC - This picture's not looking up from the Ground, it's looking up from the car floorboard.

:P Just pulling your leg - Wonderful idea, unique perspective, well captured and good conversion to B/W.

Great concept and lighting. Love the de-sat and with the "models" gray hair it works perfect.
