It's a real live (HUGE) Black Widow.
Some "coaching" needed to be done to keep it in line. Basic curves for Grey, Black & White levels, and Shadow/Highlights adjustments.
(Black Widow is now a lot flatter...)

The Red Violin is on the abdomen.
Black Widows are lethal to cats by the way, and I have a Cat.

Okay, I was loving the photo until I saw that you SQUISHED the spider!!!! :( BW's are actually really really good pest control and are not lethal, poisionous, but not lethal. The only documented case of a BW killing a human was a 2 year old that was bitten MANY times by MANY spiders. I let one live in my basement for over a year :) We had no bugs or other spiders during that time... she eventually moved out.

This is a great photo! I cannot believe you captured this :) Tiny question for you (feel free to PM me the answer): Where is the red spot off her back? did you PP it out or is she turned so you cannot see it?? I admire your bravery for this too LOL :)

shadow a bit distracting - simple and good composition.

Ewe! This gives me the creeps. Is that what you planned. If so, it worked.
