I've just pulled my entry and replaced it with this; reason being, other than a slight rotate it hasn't taken an ounce of editing (well, no, a slight color correction for no reason, but no one would know the difference). It's right out of camera, as I wanted it when I took it, completely delusional, thinking the full moon and an overcast night would make a good scene looking up my fire escape.

To be honest I love the framing and if you spend a bit of time with it, there are certainly jaws. And a skull shape as well. And a mallet, meeting that skull.

I don't care. And there's the beauty.

Well I'm really appreciative of the comments. Means a lot.

The idea behind it was that it's a skull (fire escape) taking a blow from a mallet (birdhouse). Considering the theme, I thought it was a great representation of smashing preconceived notions, and as this was the start, an introduction was necessary, and that explains the formatting of the title: as though mallet and mind were being introduced by a third party, be it Posthumous, DPC, even me/you looking at things from another perspective (third person).

The blur was to signify the motion of the mallet as well as the fracturing/disturbance in the mind rocked by this new perception.

I'll never lose my love of lines and symmetry, so the natural framing of nearly perfect vertical and horizontal lines to the right and base of the frame provided a nice foundation to balance the blur. And the lines radiating from the skull add another design element while also signifying an enlightenment, or possibly even a lightbulb illuminated, also reinforcing the general concept.

At least that's what I saw, and what I was hoping others would see. If you saw something completely different or nothing at all, that's what this photo did or didn't do, and it is what it is.

I thoroughly enjoyed participating in this challenge almost as much as I enjoyed wading repeatedly through all of the other entries. Phenomenal stuff.

Post: Couldn't be happier with the result. Thanks, posthumous.

Wow Congratulations of the Posthumous Blue Posthumous Ribbon Scott! I stared at this image a long time, I had a feeling it was on the conceptual target, but I have a long way to go before I actually know stuff.

I never saw the skull, but I did see the mallet and the round shape as mind. Nevertheless, what really put this over the top for me was that it reminds me of Battleship Potemkin. I have no idea why.

Pinhole? In any case, I love how this is reduced to lines and a few suggestive shapes. Also, it looks like you or your subject was in motion as I see some motion blur. It adds some welcome energy, gravity. Excellent.

The idea behind the Posthumous Ribbon is to encourage you to break the rules, to find new and different ways to express yourself. To free your mind to think clearly toward the solution that is certain to come, to laugh at world and at life, not doing what others are expecting you to do, but just following and listening to what's in your heart. DPC it’s a wonderful learning place where everyone should be supported on their way to be a photographer. A special attention should be aimed to those working hard with different views and approaches to photography, those not aligned with the mainstream taste and receiving no recognition. It’s our responsibility to support these photographers creating diversity and expressing different visions. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to do it. Being active at the Posthumous thread it’s the best way to protect your and the other’s freedom of being different. Thanks for taking the time to enter this challenge. Stay wild.

Could be worthy of a Posthumous ribbon.

You're too weird even for me. That's alarming and probably indicates some kind of therapy is wise. Nevertheless, 7 and a thank you for the mallet blow to my imagination.
