[Nov. 30th, 2010 09:56:14 PM]

I had 30 minutes of daylight all week. I work at a small airport and rushed like hell to get this shot as this is what I really wanted: My wide angle with a huge expanse of clouds and some intrepid pilot going at it.

No, no shot. No planes.

I rode my bike up the street toward my train and stopped again to shoot some grass with some clouds. And then I heard it, right out of a movie. This thing launched a hundred meters from me and already was arcing in defiance of the storm clouds.

I was on the road and this bastard never crossed it. He took off and and went strait up! It was fairly incredible.

The dark at the bottom of the photo is indeed the horizon, and this madman is literally banking it up into the sky. I spun and shot.

I could not be happier. Nor could I with the great comments. Thanks a lot.

Well I saw this and thought immediately of my hero, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. "The void surrounding us then suddenly yawns on every side." This image would be a very fine cover photograph for one of his books. 8. Thank you.

Love it. Clouds were the challenge, and you got it. The plane crisp, and clean, and perfectly located. The minimilisim nature of this photo is just wonderful. I'm initially given this a 10, but may be back to re-investigate. GJ.
