Woke up at 3:30 this morning (Saturday morning)..
Got out of bed at around 4 (a bit too late, I gathered). Quickly got dressed, and drove in to town..

Got there at around 4:15.. The sky was dull, the river was murky..
Met a few interesting characters still out from the night before.
Reminded me of a life I don't exactly miss.
I was glad to be out doing what I was doing, and not what they were.

In any case, I walked around my favourite alley ways but decided it wasn't worth the risk.

Took about 10-15 shots.
On my way back home I decided to stop by a marina -- I went out there with Hotpasta last year, and always wanted to go back.

Unfortunately on the way there it started to rain. I knew it wasn't going to be fun.

I got there, changed lenses in the car, set the remote shutter, and covered my d300s and the 70-200 with a jacket I had in the back seat.

The morning was dark, gloomy, and humid. A few early birds were out jogging. Completely different life to the one I had met a mere 10 minutes earlier.

Didn't really want to stay too long due to the rain, but had an amazing time. Should have gone there from the beginning.
Got home, post processed my few favourite photos, and submitted the one I liked the best (or disliked the least)..

I am paying for it now though. It's almost 11pm, and I've been up for 18 hours. Doesn't look like I'll be going to bed for another few hours, too..

Gah.

Another coffee and I should be fine!

Don't know what to expect. I like the photo, and considering the efforts this challenge required I will have my hopes up.
Anything higher than a 6.3 would be great.

Ah, was hoping for a top-10.
Very happy with the results though, considering how great some of the other entries are!

I really like this picture... the blur in the boats makes me feel like I'm in a dream. I was one of your 10's

This is very well done. Wonderful mood here. Wonderful capture.

I'll go on. The blur of the boats, the haze, the blueish tint and the vignette all work together to give this a dreamy feel. Excellent work.

I like the reflected lights on the water, and the boats in the foreground.

This does, indeed look very peaceful. At first I wasn't keen on the motion blur as the boats bob on the water, but on reflection, I think that it adds to the ambiance. Border suits the image, and again, adds to the feeling you were going for, as does the split-tone colouring.

This has a lovely early morning softness to it. However, for my taste, the border is too harsh against that softness and my eye keeps getting drawn away from the image to the lower border especially...

border makes it look like image needs slight CW rotation.

I do not see the background very detailed; it seems a little tilted to the right
