The upstairs rooms in my sister's house have wonderful light. I decided to enter this, my first DP Challenge, because I knew that between her yoga form and the available light, I could capture a respectable image. Converted the image to B&W, adjusted contrast, cropped, minimal retouching and softening.

Thank you so much for the critique. Had I allowed myself more time, i.e., been able to do a re-take after I saw the image in full size, I feel I could have produced a better photo. As it was, I had to work with what I had; however, my sister have discussed a re-do, as we both really like the pose and the mood, but want to make the suggested changes. This has really been a rewarding first experience with dpchallenge, and I look forward to more in the future. Thanks!

An interesting pose, it works well within the challenge. I like the tonality as it reflects the mood, the BW conversion seems appropriate for the theme, although the black is a little too black for my taste as no details can be seen in it. The white highlight is slightly distracting, the more so as her gaze goes directly to it, and in turn so does the viewers. the lines in this picture are important, the off set between natural/bending and horizontal/vertical. it is therefore a pity that the floor-mat angle is not aligned with wall. All in all a very graceful capture and with a little bit of work (lighting/lines) would have been in the top10 imho.

Lovely image; could be a little sharper imo. Still like it very much.

Love the bold tones here, creating great shapes. And the detail of he blinds on the wall. Beautiful.

The chair and the pose fit very well with the light. The shadows on the wall behind the subject also add some very nice atmosphere. The only thing I would change would be to move the camera (or the subject and chair!) to eliminate the small piece of window on the side, which makes that part of the image a little too cluttered for my taste.

Original combination of person and chair.
