Post challenge:
This was taken at an air show up in Ft. Worth during a DPC GTG. After shooting the planes, we wandered through this area where they had soldiers and equipment. When I saw this young guy, I immediately thought "Saving Private Ryan" or something along those lines. His face was priceless! The commenter who questioned where this was taken and the confusion regarding the title, well, for me the title should have been easy to figure out. He is young, and innocent to what he is about to experience by going off to war. This is one of my personal favorites of my own images.

Nicely done, Love! The boy kind of looks like a 40's girl with that hat and that look... so that might be the confusion.

I like your processing making the scene old.

This image makes me feel I stepped back in time. In fact, it could be a cover image for Time magazine . Nice work!

Where was this shot - at a museum? The guy on the left carries an M1 rifle used in WWII. The guy on the right is a Tech 6 but looks like 18 yrs old which would be impossible. The photo is ok but whe title doesn't make much sense in the context of the old equipment and uniforms and smiling situation.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: A most unusual image - I don't really understand the context; it seems anachronistic - a number elements seem strange to my eye. I think this is all good - it adds much interest to the image. On balance I think the toning works - it adds to the ambiguity of the image.

Critical stuff: I think there are a few blown highlights but other than that...

Overall: An interesting image, I'm looking forward to seeing some context about this image.
