Photo taken in my recent trip to S. Fco, CA. This was in the Stanford University Museum. A unique bronze sculpture of a horse by Deborah Butterfield. Yes it was Bronze.

The life-size horse sculpture was first created from driftwood. Then it was dismantled and encased in molds which were used to mold bronze pieces matching the driftwood which were then welded together, using photographs, to match the original driftwood sculpture.

I took several photos of this horse but this was the one that I liked the most. Here is another take with a different tone I was undecided to upload.

Ooooooooh hooooooooooo!!! I could not believe my eyes this morning when I opened my phone and saw my photo on the front page... It was a nerve racking week... The score going down first and then up till it passed the 7 mark, then I thought ok this is doing well maybe I'm lucky enough and get a Honorable Mention with this, never thought that on a free study I could win the blue!!!!! So happy right now!!!! Thank you all for your kind comments and faves they made the whole waiting and much pleassent experience. Special thanks to tita for helping me chose the best photo. You guys are the best!

Oh, very well done. I have visited this museum and have met that horse (more than once!). Your interpretation is just excellent and well worthy of the fine placement that you received.

What a wonderful image. Some here say the quality of work here has gone down. Obviously they spoke too soon, and had not yet seen this image. You chose well for this entry. It is my favorite of the two choices as well. The choice of tones for this image really added to the effect. Congratulations on a very well deserved first blue. I imagine we will be seeing many more from you.

My name is Mikasi and was hoping you could give me a quick tip or three. See, I am trying to improve my photography and to do this I am contacting a couple photographer who have done photos I like and wish I could do. You photo, Undone, is really good - the tones are fantastic, it has a wonderful depth to it, it just looks great.

I was wondering if you could tell me a couple of the things you did to bring out the qualities in this shot. You are busy and if you don't write back, that's understandable (in fact I only want short ideas because you likely are really busy) but know that if you did write back I would appreciate it.

Thanks Much,
Mikasi

ahhhhh...a butterfield horse, my friend has one in his home.

The duotone and lighting set the mood in this. I was intrigued and captivated until I realized it was a museum shot, which ruined the otherworldly feel of it in a way. 8

My favourite in the Free Study this month. Love the two tone processing, and that horse looks like its going to come alive and start climbing the stairs. Awesome.
