I took this in Biloxi, MS in June. For the Wotever side, I'm editing some images I haven't gotten around to till now.

The atmosphere was heated in Mississippi due to the oil spill. People were angry and shouting at me while I was taking photos. It was along the lines of, we have to live here and you swoop in with your big camera and take pictures.

Edit to add - based on some questions. I don't think the locals were mad at me, per se. They were angry at the situation: not yet recovered from Katrina and now the oil spill, which was jeopardizing their livelihood. They saw me as a tourist who comes and photographs the sensation and then leaves, where they have to stay and live with this every day. I only encountered this on the beach from a group of locals who were hanging out, sitting on a wall, drinking beers.

This woman was sitting still on the beach - there was nobody in her vicinity. The shrimper that I photographed with my zoom, too, was nicely lined up with her. I didn't even notice that the fence post fell into place with the whole composition until I processed it.

Used an overlay that Colleen cgino found on Flikr. Erased the centers of the frames at about 30%. The image itself is processed with a lot of Nik this and Nik that.

what a story ... i would be very intimidated if ppl got angry at me in the same situation .. funny, tho it doesnt phase me when a store detective or wotever they're called, tells me to put my camera away ... could be that its just his job and there's no high emotion ..
its a great shot alicia .. i love your processing too .. :)

I love the nik this and that filters. Actually I love the nik filters period. I like how the overlay has made this into a great triptych.

There is a haunting melancholy to this image. Loving the pp'ing and overlay. Brilliant idea to make us look through a window.

Really nice processing and good use of the overlay. At first I thought you might be shooting reflections in big windows. I like the color shift.

I don't get why people would be mad at you for taking pictures.

I love how she's centered and the pole in the forefront is slightly off from that. GREAT edit.
