It appears to be some short of Shield bug. I think if you google it you might find the exact species. A tad over zealous on the sharpening for my taste but great job on the exposure.

That is one strange looking critter. Looks like some kind of beetle. Good shot, very sharp. You have a steady hand if this was hand held.
