This little guy was smaller than my fingernail (not counting his antennae, which he needs to grow into). I had planned on just shooting the cilantro flowers (very light and airy and delicate things) but he was an irresistably pleasant surprise this morning.

Had the 36mm extension tube on again. Handheld with fill flash.

PP - cropped, white balance, increased saturation and contrast, bit of dodging on the nymph, resized, sharpened, added border.

Wow! That antenna is ridiculously long for the size of that grasshopper! Cool shot Mary. I wonder if extension tubes would be necessary in NYC??

Good shot. Looks like the little fella may have lunched on the flower pedal.

Beautiful! Lovely combination with all the flowers. Perhaps the only minor point is that's there too much competition between the flowers and the grasshopper about being the main subject.

Mary, I would love to learn how to use extension tubes - maybe you could share a bit about what they are and how they work?
Another very delicate - even ethereal shot. I love the shades in the darkness, it's just a perfect canvas for the flowers. And you're right, he does need to grow into that antennae :)
