I took my chances with this. I think part of my camera strap found its way in front of the lens (I wrap it around my wrist). After downloading it, it took two or three viewings before I noticed it myself. So I guess I was hoping most folks would miss it. But most didn't. No matter. I wasn't going to try to clone it out or correct it.

This is Sixth Avenue at Wood Street where interesting people can always be found congregating in the steam. It's one of my favorite street corners to shoot. Thanks for all the comments!

my god a war zone. even the little kid has a rifle. what will be revealed when the smoke clears. whose flag at the end of the alley. no, clearly none of this is the case, but it sure makes you feel it, and then you begin to wonder if this isn't more mysterious.

I'm going through the entries, stopping at those images I feel have had the benefit of an unconventional eye and dwelling a little longer to try to see and appreciate what you saw. This is one of those images.

Positives: I like the furtive feel of this image - like some undercover film footage. A real mixture of elements in the composition but this serves to immerse us further in the scene, None of this looks contrived at all. Normally I comment that ALL images are contrived - because as a minimum we frame the shot. Here, even though you have converted it to B&W, it feels rather magically non-contrived; almost accidental.

Critical stuff: The horizontal(ish) element from the right side is perhaps problematical - having said that, it would perhaps be too 'neat' without it.

Overall: Very unusual image - do I like it? I'm not sure, but I certainly commend you for offering this up in a Free Study.

When I look at this image the first thing I see is the black line in the middle which really ruins the shot for me, overall I like the tones and thing the scene would have been interesting without the line. 5

seems like something is blocking the lens up close, hurts the image
