The Dove, Columbia's noted sculpture lands on a new corner.

*Composition (content)*
Looking at this artwork I notice that it is a symmetrical sculpture, yet you have the right side of it out of the frame. I don't know if there is a physical barrier that prevented you from getting the whole object in the frame, but having the whole thing centered would be more pleasing to the eye.

*Background*
Again, not knowing the limitation of space, if you could have taken this shot without the background clutter showing so as to just focus on the art work you would have a stronger picture. I like the depth of field so as to show the crispness of the clouds in contrast to the sculpture.

*Camera Work (Technical)*
The lighting on the object is good. It cast enough shadow to peak interest, but isn't to bright or washed out. I particularly like the reflection on the left side, it is warmth against the coldness of the metal. Your colors are accurate and bright.

*Digital Processing (technical)*
Sharpening is very good (not too soft and no trace of over sharpening).
Balance between light and dark is good.
Compression is good (no jpeg artifacts)

*My opinion*
I think that with a change in camera position this picture would have been much stronger. If space limitations prevent getting the shot you want, consider cropping down to landscape mode or something that is a little more abstract in nature.

the angle of the shot is really nice
but if you could have avoided the reflection, was it comming from your flash?
but sometimes it is hard to understand what is it.
but i commented this one among others because of these factors.

Would have scored higher if it were cropped in a different way - either a wider angle showing us the whole thing or tight in to show some detail. Unfortunately this just looks like we've lost the right edge by accident..

If this were cleaner, this would be a great picture. The cropping is off -- the entire sculpture should be in the frame. The treetops and especially the telephone pole distract -- if you could have shot this from lower to the ground with just the sky as the background, that would be the best. And it looks like it has been poorly compressed -- I understand the swirls in the steel but these look harsh, like they've been overly sharpened or the file size was edited in indexed color mode. muckpond

Unfortunately the corner itself is obscured. Is this a test?

too bad about the junk in the right corner....

i would like this much better if the bottom had been cropped -the lower background detracts from the image. I really like the phot of the sculpture!

Cropped too close. Would like to have seen where they landed. Good clear clean shot though. Nice colors. Unique shot. Good job. PTL6

If only you could've get rid of the background elements.

what an interesting sculpture! thanks for sharing : )

The blue sky is nice, and that is definitely an interesting sculpture. I think cropping it horizontally so that the stuff in the bottom wasn't showing would make it more effective. karmat

to fit the photojournalism subject better it would probably have needed to be less tightly cropped, so it could been seen in the context of it's surroundings.

I do not get this and photo jounalism.

For this to have nailed the challenge, you needed to show the new corner... Possibly even workers moving it if you were lucky enough to be there during the move... The crop seems a bit too close for me to get a good idea what this sculpture looks like. ~ MyQyl ~

I'm not sure if this meets a photojournalism challenge, but photo wise its a very interesting shot. I'd zoom out a little though so that you get the right edge of the sculpture, and tilt it upwards to remove the background trees/lines... probably would make a very cool abstract...

Cropped too tightly.

I think it would be good if we could see more of the corner (location) of The Dove.

I wish the whole sculpture was in frame rather than having the right and bottom edges cut off. I like the lighting and shadows on it though.

Nice picture, but I still don't understand the caption after reading it a few times.

Whoooooo that is huge!! Amazing. Justine

Nice, but I would rather the statue wasn't cropped off. I feel like I'm missing something. It may have been impossible to shoot around but the telephone pole is distracting too. DPz
