Just a helicopter bringing cargo sized crates to the top of a building in Boston on Sunday early morning on my way to work. Hoping it looks like a rescue! ;P

Initial thoughts
Interesting event but poor composition and poor quality jpeg.

Composition/ Content
Content is reasonably interesting, given the challenge topic, though not particularly interesting of itself.
Composition doesnât work for me â feels incohesive. The shape made by the buildings/ sky isnât very strong graphically. The lines of the buildings arenât parallel to the frame. The rope hanging from the helicopter is also not vertical within the frame. Although the position of the helicopter in the frame adheres to the rule of the thirds this is unbalanced by the buildings â their inclusion in the shot adds context/ environment (which may be necessary to tell the story) but does not aid composition.

Background
As the background is just sky there is little to say about it. Not too whited out.

Camera Work - Technical
Exposure isnât quite right â buildings seem a little dark â though shooting into the sky does make this very difficult to get right.

Digital Processing - Technical
Sky seems very noisy â is it a crop from a much larger picture or has it been taken on the low res setting of your camera?
Iâd recommend using a program such as neatimage to lose that noise.
There are compression artifact âjaggiesâ along the edges of the heliblades.

Fits The Challenge
Yes. Clearly there is a story to be told here. I think the photo in itself would support an article about the story, but not really illustrate the story on itâs own.

Your Opinion On The Photo
Compositionally and content-wise this photo isnât one that has strong appeal for me.

(Sorry Karen, I truly hope this critique isnât offensive or disheartening â if any aspect of it upsets you please let me know and I can edit it out).

Could have cropped out the buildings, but otherwise very nice. Vote 6 Sonifo

lucky it was that well lit you get a shutter speed fast enough to keep the blades still. was that really a rescue? first you send them this picture, then you schooze with them a little, then they take you up for a ride in the sling, that's when you really start getting winning shots. i say six.

Nothing convinces me that this picture deserves such a dramatic tittle.

Composition is ok but the buildings overpower the main subject in this photo. I'm more focused on the detail of the buildings. Exposure is not bad you didn't blow out the sky and there's some detail in the helicopter and the load it's carrying. Also, when you resized this photo you must have overcompressed or oversharpened this photo because there are jaggies in the chopper blades.

I wish I could see a little more detail in the helicopter. Maybe if you could have cropped it a little tighter this would have helped.

This is kind of cool. I've never actually seen this, and we have two pics of it in this challenge? I'm not sure if it's the camera or what, but the buildings aren't very clear. Maybe it was exposure due to the lighting situation. I really don't know enough to say. ANYWAY, fits the challenge and has a good composition. Not much emotional pull, but I know that isn't always necessary in PJ. ~indigo997

What are they rescuing. Would have done better to just zoomed in more on the helicopter and it's load with just the tops of the buildings. But, just my opinion. PTL6
