Don't laugh...I know I'm not supermodel material, but I thought I'd go out on a limb for this one...everybody has to do that every once in a while, right? I was trying to emulate some of those soft-focus print ads for perfume or cosmetics, or some of the old 40s and 50s kinds of glamour poses. Of about 30 shots, this one looked the best, although it could still use a lot of help (and a much more photogenic model). :o)

After fiddling with a garment rack, two desk lamps, a 500 watt halogen shop light, some black fabric, and a partridge in a pear tree for hours to get a backdrop of sorts, I set the camera on a timer, then sat on my husband's drummer's throne (the only stool in the house). I watched the flashing light from the timer out of the corner of my eye and tried to get the perfume spray to coincide with the shutter release...and had to redo it about 30 times. Needless to say, I and the house smelled really good for a long time! LOL

Post shot adjustments included cropping, levels, curves, saturation, then a purple lighting effect rendered in PS. Also ran through NeatImage (no, I won't stop using it!). Anyway, be kind...this was a big step for me! :o)

Here's what I see...The mist of the perfume looks like the light..kissing the chin and neck..the ear ring was a bit much...maybe something smaller...and I think you have long hair?

should hair drapped it a bit down over your right shoulder,

Laurie - I thought that looked like you! This shot came out really nice. I like the soft lighting and focus. I think the only thing that I found distracting (certainly not the choice of model!) was the sharp edges around your mouth and hand. Propably a side-effect of NeatImage. But overall this photo came out great - nice job.

I like the concept- but the face is a bit to pale- almost conveys thoughts of death rather than sex. I would arch the back, lower the shot, and spray the the perfume a bit lower, while the model looks off to the side a bit more- but what do I know? not much

Very sad. I see a photo of a beautiful woman and the first thing I notice is the lighting. Great photo

You conveyed the mood (an attractive lady, seductively well dressed, the excellent capture of the spray of fragrance, the ring on her finger all convey the 'passion' mentioned in your title. The purple tones also enhance and add a seductive quality) & purple, yet the model didn't ... after taking another look at your photo I wondered why the models expression didn't have the same 'passion' as the rest of the photo? I'm thinking it may be the 'stance' of her head to protect the lips, nose & eyes from the fragrance being applied... I seem to remember that it didn't usually taste as sweet as it smelled. Glad I took another look as it deserved a higher vote than I initially gave it.

excellent photo! I like the fact that you took a "risk" in using a portrait, but it really paid off. The lighting and tone are beautiful. I'm not sure if the motion blur on the finger is intentional or not...how 'bout a 9?

The purple light and soft focus give the model an almost porcelin look. The mood works well. I do find that my eye doesn't quite know where to settle on this image.
Her face, earing, ring and bottle all grab my attention. As well as the highlight on her neck. Perhaps more empty space above and to the right of the model would pull all these elements together into one part of the picture rather than them being spread throughout it. Its still a really nice shot though.

The purple lighting really works well here. I also like the simple lines of her face and dress. Nice one!

Very sensuous/seductive. Highlights on model's neck a bit harsh and overexposed. Nice framing. Would've used more subtle lighting.
