This little meerkat simply sat calmly as I approached really close with my intrusive lens. In fact, this little fella was so tame he and his little relatives let me stroke them.

He'd just been digging for food so maybe he was too tired to be bothered about me! This is one of many shots of them peering around, eating and generally being as meerkats are - totally charming!

I cloned out masses of debris on his face. I was going to leave it because it added to his rather scatty appearance, but it just looked too messy!

Other edits:
Hue/Sat (to boost the colour for web)
Minor dodge & burn (to bring out the eyes, nose and ears)
Crop (there's more to the left and bottom, but at 640px there's less impact)

Very krisp kat you got there. I always appreciate a clever title (MeerMuffs?), and this is one of the top animal pics in the group. Nice job.

These little guys are natural hams. And may be rapidly becoming one of the most photographed creatures in the world. You 've nicely captured the classic "smile" there are excellent details in the fur. It is just lacking that WOW factor that makes an image pop off the screen. That said, I've been looking at him/her for quite some time now, so obviously ther is merit to the image. The crop is just a bit tight on top, I feel, other than that, nicely done. 8

I am a big Disney fan, and of course Timon and Pumba are my very favorite, this is a very good shot. Much attention to detail, the eyes are phenominal. 9
