I originally wanted to capture something like a cave or some really awesome ice structures, but I saw this wasp nest in my shed from last summer and thought..hmmm...Things Made by Nature...Perfect!
I used 68mm worth of extension tubes along with the Canon 100mm macro lens.
adjusted exposure a bit in Lightroom
adjusted black levels
adjusted fill light
adjusted brightness a bit
added a very light vignette
opened in PS CS4
sharpened using Noiseware Pro

adjusted levels slightly

My favorite of the challenge. It's different from everything else, and it is in fact something that nature constructed, instead of being born naturally. Do I make any sense? I hope so.

nice close capture. a little dull and a little dark on the right, maybe a tighter crop. 5 ETA: after going back, i only gave 4 photos a 5 on this challenge and this shouldn't have been one of them. 6
