Very little done, just re-size, sharpen, and channel mix down to greyscale.

I dont expect this to do very well as it was taken as a spur of the moment after taking some shots of the sun rise and I was walking home after... It just seemed interesting.

You may be correct there... most papers do tend to have the answer they feel is correct, then word the title accordingly... perhaps "Speed cameras fail to reduce deaths" with the subsiquent story trying to prove that.

Ilkeston, near nottingham in the UK.

For some reason its become quite a tradition to lay flowers close to a road death... I think it may have started around princes Di's death as I dont recall it being in favour prior to that, or not as regular.

Great capture, one of the few images I have seen that actually could be in a newspaper. Personally I think I would have stayed in colour for this to portray the present a little more.

I did debate with myself over keeping this in colour, but apart from the major papers most still print in BnW and this one although "a snap shot," seemed to fit the chalenge and I felt was similar to what a local press photographer would take.

Well conceived subject. I believe you would need higher contrast for most newsprint, however.

Yes, I agree but that side would be down to the newspaper editor/art director....

I've a submission into a local newspaper which I'm hoping will get printed on weds/thurs. If so, it will make a nice tear sheet :-)

Very strong shot. The b/w works well here. The flowers tells the story that someone has lost their life here and the cameras may not of helped. Very good shot.

Great entry. Not to go into the last challenge but wouldn't colorized flowers worked better?

Maybe needs more contrast and subject is kind of boring,7

A very poignant image. Excellent choice of focal length. The lamp-post just behind it is a little distracting, but the image is still great. My favourite of the challenge.
