Nice picture but typically I think a newspaper would have a shot of the players. This is a little too abstract for a newspaper IMHO

This is not really a photojournalistic type of photo. It doesn't show a timely event, just a random deflated soccer ball that could be found in any back yard. Subtlety isn't effective in photojournalism which is meant to inform a wide public.

I find this composition rather mundane. The colors are drab and the lighting on the ball is flat. The ball just isn't a compelling enough subject.

Just my opinion, but I rarely (if ever?) see recent sporting events covered by "illustrative"-type photographs. They are always action shots from the game that include the players.

Too tight of crop for my tastes. A shot of the game would be more newspaper worthy in my opinion.
