I think this should have finished much higher. It is a photo I can hear.
01/29/2010 02:19:41 AM
whoa that is cool... the coyote is so tiny but that is what gives the impact... you can tell by his posture what this image is all about, love it.
01/29/2010 12:42:20 AM
Marvelous sharpness and depth of field with the perk of the tiny lonely looking coyote are all wonderful. You had good light, no power lines, and a very clear day too. It don't get much better than this.
This shot grabbed me when I was looking through the entries.

What a great image. All the layers, colors and detail area really good. The Coyote really adds the extra punch to this pro quality work.

And he's howling! Really get an amazing sense of the vastness of his wilderness.

What a great scene, love the layered look, everything is so interesting to look at.
01/28/2010 03:55:40 PM
The colors are great - the composition is long but the grandeur adds to the solitude of the coyote which puts this from good to great.
01/28/2010 08:56:49 AM
Stunning. Love all the layers of grandeur.
01/27/2010 11:32:49 PM
Great capture. To my taste, a bit more foreground and less sky would have brought the coyote to a more noticeable position... I am not even sure about it. The more I look at it, the more I like it. The colors are also gorgeous.
01/27/2010 06:19:03 PM
Very nice image. I like all the different layers.
01/27/2010 02:33:47 PM
A fine image, the coyote really gives this scale. Well done.
01/27/2010 12:35:13 PM
CRAZY COOL AWESOME SPECTACULAR STUPENDOUS DYNAMIC ETC. This is fantastic in every way - the layers of textures, the coyote providing a counterpoint to the mountain above. Where is the 20 button?
01/26/2010 10:20:14 PM
wonderful details and that lone wolf howling ? is great 9
01/26/2010 09:07:53 PM
super job...what are the red bushes? Super clear and sharp in the focus...your colors are spot on...moving up the vote
01/26/2010 02:12:41 AM
Scrolling down I thought it was a very nice picture of a mountain landscape, but then that coyote looking so small just brought this picture to an even greater level!
01/25/2010 11:27:56 AM
oh thats cool, so many great layers.
01/25/2010 09:23:04 AM
love the coyote pose...nice image
01/24/2010 10:52:27 PM
excerlent you can almost hear his howl
01/24/2010 03:31:29 PM
Whoo! What wonderful timing. The background is perfect. Exellent wildlife and landscape image.
01/24/2010 02:40:29 PM
A nice image that, by the nature of the land, has bands running though it that seem to give it a bit of a disjointed feel. This is compounded by the portrait crop. The colours are really good and interesting. The Coyote is small in the image, but the shaddow does help draw attention
01/24/2010 10:47:51 AM
The coyote makes this shot.
01/23/2010 10:30:02 PM
great eye travel here.
01/23/2010 09:53:24 PM
That tiny coyote decidedly makes the shot. Beautiful.....8
01/23/2010 06:15:34 PM

01/23/2010 05:47:00 PM
Great use of minimialism to great a beautiful scene.
01/23/2010 10:33:34 AM
Nice earth tones and stacking of layers which culmiates with the animal in the foreground.
01/23/2010 09:11:47 AM
Love the many layers of color and contrast presented here, and at the bottom
we get the lone coyote calling out. Excellent shot indeed!
01/23/2010 02:10:32 AM
BBC Wildlife moment. This shot beats the Wildlife picture of the year hands down(now disqualified apparently) Right place, right time and kept wits together in composing this - layers working well towards mountain and sky. I give this 10. I should stop looking for soon ill be looking for the 11 on the bar
01/23/2010 01:01:28 AM
Wow! perfect. 10
01/23/2010 12:43:54 AM
Great from front to back of the image.

I definitely get the sense of the great wild in this capture. The great expanse of the wildness spreads out before me as I gaze at the snow-capped mountains. Suddenly there is a haunting and errie howl. I look down into the valley below and see a lone coyote. Man, this must have been a wonderful thing to experience live - I'm a little envious but glad you caught the moment so it could be shared. My only little plaint is that I wished this was in a horizontal presentation to get a stronger feel of the great wide expanse of this wilderness.

Great lonely feel to this. Nice catch.
01/22/2010 07:08:09 AM
Pretty crisp image. I like the "layers" of distinct foreground, middle ground, and background, and then the sky. However you processed this, I like the colors and tones. The coyote really puts into context the expanse of this wilderness, if that make sense.

Do they howl? That's what I hear. I like the composition.
