An 8 from me, remarkable image and perfectly matter-of-fact presentation. The door, for me, both echos the face and represents the dawning end of life. Wonderful image. For me, the chopping of the arm is in effect the counter-expression of the door; pieces are missing, the end is near, the exit awaits. It resonates with me because I juts lost my father exactly a year ago, and pieces of him were disappearing in some strange way as we watched.

for some reason the door knob and keyhole almost feel like a reflection of his face. very nice!

Excellent use of thirds. The door feels like a metahpor for his limited time here.

The combination of things in this shot don't really make sense to me. Is there a significance to the door? I can't tell what it is but it's there and I'm assuming you didn't just forget to close it. Then the right arm is cropped for no particular reason that I can tell while the door is taking a full third in the right of the frame, I'm afraid either I just don't get this shot or there's a lot wrong with it.

I *really* like this, but it bugs me that his arm is chopped off....6

I think that door adds a lot to the image. It just wouldn't be as good without it.

What a wonderful image... reminds me of my grandfather... oh how I miss him. Composition and contrast are great, but it's the emotion that this image stirs that makes this such a powerful one. I think I was overly critical with my voting earlier, and like I've been doing to a few images, I'm rectifying my earlier harshness now that I'm commenting. So... the 8 is now a 9.

Very nice portrait. I'd prefer to include his elbow and such on the left side of the image, and the focus seems to be a bit behind his face, but overall very good. 7

I love the inclusion of the door. It adds some symbolism, like he's sitting there, waiting to go inside, perhaps to another place.
