This image is of a eastern box turtle that had buried itself in the mud. The only thing that was visible was his eye. I agree with most of the comments suggesting the foreground is too out of focus, but was shooting under poor conditions. Knowing what the animal is you can make out the line around the shell, front foot, and head. I would be happy to upload the unedited version if anyone is interested.

This has an outrageous oozy feeling to it! I look forward to discovering what sort of creature it is--hope you'll reveal. The brights do distract--wonder if they could be toned down some.

scary! But it's hard to tell what the subject is.

Very cool in its surrealism. Great eye color! I like the wet look and the textures in this image.

the out-of-focus desaturated part dominates this to the point of obscuring the subject, whatever that creature with the red eye is supposed to be. Perhaps leaving color in it's face as well as just the eye would have improved this; also cropping so that the subject was a larger proportion of the frame; you did get the desaturation part right- the non-eye parts are properly greyscaled.

I think a tighter crop would have worked better on this image. Shiny bits on the left are distracting and I think without them this image would have made a bigger impact.

Pretty creepy but 80% of this photo is blurred foreground which is very distracting.

The red eye-shape is very nice - but the entire rest of the picture is so OOF that it's pretty hard to relate.
