The stark black and white tones are perfect for encapsulating the isolated loneliness of this lighthouse on the bluff. It brings out the jagged textures of the rock and gives focus to the clapboard white wood of the building in contrast with the smooth wooden fencing. The sky is lowering and mimics the sea below. This looks old and historic and very well preserved.

Lovely image Karen. This is such a dramatic vista and the clouds and rocks and light work greatly together in B/W.

This took some research, but it appears to be Cape Spear Lighthouse. A fine b&w image from ' . substr('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', strrpos('//www.dpchallenge.com/images/user_icon/21_F.gif', '/') + 1) . ' KarenNfld, I think. At least Karen has captured an image from this angle in the past. Although, this angle is an improvement. Wonderful exposure, DOF and detail. 9
