This is a treat. Interesting that people didn't see the umbrella, & the guy who saw 'heavy editing' made me smile. It must've been gratifying to read the emotional reactions your photo stirred. Good work.

Like Karen, I didn't see the face until I read the details! Naturally it won't go away now...

It's bizarre. When I first saw the face, death came to mind, as implied by Steve's poem, but the flip side is that crazy, energetic joy, kids have running in the rain, getting soaked, fighting the umbrella forced upon them by a well meaning parent. I like it.

When I saw this for the first time - before rollover - I thought this was one of the most striking entries in the challenge, and at that time I didn't even see the face. Now, well now, you've just blown me away.

You guys had me running in circles. I thought Cutouts entry was yours and that yours was his. I suppose those were close guesses...

missed rollover...

I breathed a mask of fresh-cut hay,
Outdoors I wend, it rained all day.
Without umbrella, the hay did mold,
I've breathed one's last, I'm stilled, and cold.

Love the way you used grain and color. This could be a cutout entry. If it's not, then please take that as a compliment.

Probably not a 'basic editing' submission, but I like the effect. But only gets a 4 due to heavy editing.

A possible posthumous contender. I'm not a huge appreciator of abstraction but I really like this.

The face and expression will probably keep my mind busy for a while. These and the tones remind me of posthumous .
