Roz and everyone, thanks for your encouragement to make my weird cat images into calendars and other products! Actually, I have done that a bit. This is one example; I made the first version of this last December, but I wanted to spark it up a bit to make greeting cards to put in the art gallery in Socorro. I put in several different cards, but this one is the big seller around here, probably because the bar is really the only bar in town that's just a bar, and it's pretty popular with the college crowd.
As for calendars, I did make one on Lulu a couple years ago, and it turned out great. I've just been too lazy to make another one. What I do have, though, is a bunch of images of all sorts made into products on Zazzle here. Whenever I think of it I create a bunch more, it is a snap. I've never pushed the site in any way, so I'm always surprised when I have sales there...I've made a couple hundred bucks this year off of various stuff, and like I said I'm amazed that anything sells because they have zillions of products and I don't promote my site.
My biggest coup was just a few weeks ago; I had the image below printed on canvas a couple years back with that Canvas on Demand special free offer. It hung in the gallery for a couple years, then in November I put it in a local art show and it sold for $350. The show cut was 20%, but still $280 is pretty good for a product that only cost me about $25 to make :-)

i can see why this'd be a big seller .. its not just any cat outside a pub .. its so obviously inebriated .. you are so clever and imaginative .. & congrats on your amazing maui sunset colleen .. it really is wonderful to hear about dpc ppl doing well with their art/photography in the big bad world .. lol .. :) |
