Brian, I agree that it is troubling even though perhaps only human (this is a candid shot), but that was the whole point of this photo (and the title) to show this "visual oxymoron". sorry that it did not work for you.


So goes anonymous voting and commenting. There's certainly no need to be sorry. I probably spent more time writing (and rewriting) this comment than any other. I almost let it go, but felt I had to say something. Technically, it's a fine photo and I didn't lowball it. But I did think long and hard about it. So if your goal was to get people thinking (as any good photograph should) then you certainly succeeded.

I wouldn't have thought it would be possible to lend an element of whimsey to this stark memorial, but you have. The world needs more whimsey. Thanks.

Maybe the person adds some sense to the title but the pattern, shapes and contrast is what seems to make this picture interesting, the subject just seems to take away from that.
