Challenge: Centered Composition IV (Basic Editing)
Camera: Canon EOS-1D Mark III
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro
Location: Dar es Salaam
Date: Nov 13, 2009
Aperture: f/4
ISO: 200
Shutter: 1/60
Date Uploaded: Nov 13, 2009

This little guy appeared on our water cooler at a picnic on Friday. He is only about 1.5 inches long. It was a struggle to get a good picture because the paper he/she was standing on kept moving in the breeze.

I am going to have to do some study on Flashes and aperture. It seems like my macros have too little depth of field because when I put on my flash it defaults to around f/4.

Wd on a pleasing photo Scott! Yes my 180mm Sigma peaks at between F/8 and f/11. More than that and I get defraction and softness in DOF. Roz is using that Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro and getting great results with it too.

Wow ... love the detail in the eye the shallow DOF works well here

Lovely shot, great title too. Could do with a tad more DOF to rear of eye, as difficult as it is to do, I understand that. Colours great, perhaps a bit too much dead space, again understand that most voters will think the gecko must be in the middle for this challenge. Wierd black spots and grey/shadow blotch below the Gecko's right leg/foot detracts a bit. Still a high mark from me.

Centered composition - yes. Subject interest - The shallow DOF hasn't work well on this subject for me.

Nice job. I like it.
I think the depth of field is a bit too shallow. I see that you're probably going for that effect, but I would have preferred just a little more.

Sorry, I just spent all my money on the beer that the frogs were selling. Come around again after payday, but drop the overdone accent.

I imagine you've meant to do this, but the focus is a bit too shallow to me.
Nevertheless nice picture
