[Nov. 5th, 2009 08:28:13 PM]

This is actually a reenactment of a photo that my mom took 36 years ago. We had a long haired collie, then, and she sat me down with a book and put a piece of baloney in the middle of said book. That dog was Shannon, and he was the most well behaved, smart dog!

This is Max, he's well behaved, but he's not the brightest bulb on the planet (we're talking about the dog, not my son...) It took him a long time to get the idea, and then was cooperative for only 1 or 2 shots. After that, he kept trying to lick the book. He did get lots of provolone cheese! (after all, who would put baloney in a book? yuck...)

I actually liked this shot much better: ' . substr('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/100000-104999/103142/120/Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_831366.jpg', strrpos('//images.dpchallenge.com/images_portfolio/100000-104999/103142/120/Copyrighted_Image_Reuse_Prohibited_831366.jpg', '/') + 1) . ' , but my husband thought the dog was more engaged in the shot I entered, and I wasn't comfortable the composition of the other one. However, I liked the lighting and the coziness of the other shot much better. Do you have an opinion? Let me know!

The pose and expression of the dog in this one could almost carry this off alone. Your son and the book are just right, so here you are.

I elected to use a rating table to decide on what value to assign during voting.
Here’s the table:
1 No Animal/People Interaction
2 Slightly Appealing, but no Animal/People Interaction
3 Moderately Appealing, but on Animal/People Interaction
4 Greatly Appealing, but no Animal/People interaction
5 Not Appealing, but possessing Animal/People Interaction
6 Slightly Appealing and possessing Animal/People Interaction
7 Moderately Appealing and possessing Animal/People Interaction
8 Greatly Appealing and possessing Animal People Interaction
9 Better than #8, and caused an audible sigh
10 Better than #9, and would likely declare it a favorite

I used tuna to get my animal to pose. Is there a doggy snack in that book there? Great idea and pose. Wish the background was a bit more even - but thats a minor nitpick. Hope this is scoring well for you. Its great for the challenge.

a lovely moment captured... i feel like it may have been improved with a tighter crop and a shallower DOF.

Nice interaction with an old time feel, looks like the dog is reading the book. Focus seems a little soft.
