 Not a new shot, but one I hadn't shared on DPC yet. This is Shaka, my Congo African Grey Parrot, tossing a pretzel to Sage, my Irish Wolfhound puppy. Shaka managed to unscrew the lid from the jar, work up the nerve to stick her entire body in the jar and extract a pretzel ... but she doesn't actually like pretzels, so after all that she tossed it. Sage has learned that the parrot is a very messy eater and ADORES pretzels, so she parked herself in front of Shaka and even sat politely to encourage sharing ;-) Amazingly, they repeated the game after I went to get the camera!

i came back to see shaka again after you said how he wont eat his green vegetables in my pic a special moment .. lol .. this pic is brilliant ... i've told a couple of ppl about your amazing parrot and WI puppy sage .. (see i know wot WI stands for now !!..) .. anyway, when i first read about shaka and the pretzels it blew me away ... i love hearing stories about animals and how they demonstrate over and over how intellient and perceptive they are ..
if you've never heard of the chicken soup for the soul series of books then i would recommend 'chicken soup for the pet lovers soul' .. short true stories about animals and how incredible they can be .. the stories are of all types ... funny, sad, inspirational, awesome, heartwrenching, amazing, unbelievable and just plain wonderful .. :)

lol .. brilliant shot .. we have katee and a budgerigar so i'm hoping to get more shots of them together in our side challenge ..
your bird is very intelligent ... amazing that she got right in the jar ..
your dog is very intelligent too .. amazing that she waited for the pretzels ..:)

Great shot, great story. Amazing skill on the parrots part, and probably not a bad survival strategy. I can just imagine how that the game would be a hit with Shaka!
