Challenge: Waiting (Basic Editing I)
Camera: Canon PowerShot G5
Location: The lounge at home.
Date: Jun 8, 2004
Aperture: F/8
ISO: 50
Shutter: 1/24th
Galleries: Still Life
Date Uploaded: Jun 8, 2004

Shot on light blue card, directly under a home made 400W 24" diameter diffused flood.

Manual white balance set off white card to match the lights, auto focus point set on the cheese (macro mode), exposure +2/3 stops.

Post processing in the gimp.

USM - Scale - Crop - Sharpen - border.

I had a lot of fun mucking around with this one, after the terrible rush I did the Sports without players entry. Hope you enjoy it as well.

The idea to use a mousetrap came from Brendon Sandrey, a chap I work with.

Thanks for all the comments.

For those who were concerned about the nature of the trap, we use a different type of trap in reality, they have four paws, and clean up after themselves. ;-).

Excellent bare bones, minimalistic approach and very well framed to boot.

Overall, very nice. I like the clever interpretation of the challenge. I think the lighting is a little flat and makes the cheese look kind of dark. Some soft sidelighting coming from the lower right might add some more dimension and contrast to the shot. Still, I like this one.

This is technically a good composition - I find these traps highly offensive (the live traps are cheaper, in fact), but good photo.
