West 48th near Rockefeller Center. While the family was in the Nintendo Store, I took a minute to stoop down and review my pictures. Out of nowhere, this little sweetheart ran up to me. She was intrigued with the camera, the pictures on the camera... me. She didn't speak English, but it didn't matter much; she wasn't interested in anything I was saying. A minute or so into our getting acquainted time, whatever was detaining her family came to an end, and her mother, without a word, a smile, a nod, or even the faintest gesture of acknowledgement, whisked her away. I guess it wasn't meant to be.

I think that apart from the cuteness of the kid, the Jewish guy makes the shot.

You did a fine job of capturing her effervescent nature, and the Jewish gentleman in the background adds quite well to this. The setting - all of it - just plain works.

This is simple and delightful - watchful guy in the back adds a sobering counterpoint.

Interesting image to gaze at... What I found most is intriguing is the the veiled and subtle, yet intentional direct look of the man to you.

don't take this the wrong way, but she looks a lot like your profile pic! odd visual tension between her and the fellow at the curb. she wins.

Aahhh, what a fabulous story. But then, you could have been the boogeyman. Who knows in these times. It's wonderful how children are so uninhibited.

I've been looking at this for a while now trying to figure out what it was that I liked about it. Then it dawned on me we're down at her level or even lower and it makes for a great perspective, to see things from the child's PoV.

It's a pity we're not able to stay that innocent. I'll bet Mama gave her the 'Don't talk to strangers' talk, but it's great that you captured that happy moment.

The spirit of guilelessness in a mean city overseen by Hasids and women of weight. Stunning.

Funny how this joyful shots reminds me of a tragic shot of the Vietnam War. I guess it's the way she reaches toward the camera so unselfconsciously. Even in this light-hearted mode, it's a powerful gesture.
