Surfed around Bugguide.net but couldn't quickly find out what sort of grasshopper this is, and since it could be a young one that makes ID more difficult, anyway. So .. it's a little grasshopper ;-)

Had an extension tube on to get this close ... maybe the 20mm? Could have been the 36mm, though. I need to get a longer prime to have even more fun with extension tubes!

PP - converted from RAW, cropped, white balance, dodged/burnt bug some to bring out details, increased saturation and contrast, reduced noise, resized, sharpened.

I've never seen anything like this guy either. He has little horns :)

Odd -- he doesn't appear to have any eyes. I've never seen anything like it.

This is a nice example of the right DOF. Your 28-75 has an aperture ring, so it should work with your ext tubes. You can stack the tubes and get even tighter on small subjects. The older manual Nikkor AI lenses are great with ext tubes, and a lot less expensive than the new lenses.
I like the way the DOF puts the focus right on it's head in this shot.

What a cute little guy Mary ... I have no idea what type he is either... sure looks tiny and fragile .. I never used extention tubes .. they are greek to me - one day I would like to find out more about them - hope someone can identify him for you.
