I bought a variety of flours from a local bulk-foods market, and used a few to construct this rather lame (but hopefully adequate) sculpture. Shot in the kitchen with a combination of diffuse sunlight and incandescent -- I heightened the contrast and did two passes with low-level sharpening to bring out the textures of the different flours.

Interesting. "Back then," people were more likely to actually 'look' and try to understand the presentation.

Your visual puns and quirky takes on the Challenges are a whole bunch of fun. Even if I sometimes do not get them for a while.

:-))

Thank you both! In case you didn't see it in the previous thread, here is the key to the palette of ingredients I used. If you browse though the gallery at pBase you'll also see larger versions of the design which somewhat inspired this, and my adaptation.

That's original. What is that? Looks like brown sugar and icing. Nice shot. Jacko. 7

"flowers" ? :-)

Not sure what this is, though that doesn't matter for scoring. It's obviously a flower, just not sure made of what. (Half the fun is figuring it out.) Great detail, I like the lighting, because it emphasizes the texture. Petals are a tiny bit distracting cut off, but not a real big deal. 7

LOL. great idea. for a second i was going to point out the typo, but then i realized ...
challenge -- met
technical -- well implemented. good lighting. i would like to see more contrast in the colors, but i realize flour doesn't come in bright red/blue/green :)
composition -- also good. nice crop with the middle of the flower just in the right spot.

I know this is not a real flower, but maybe flour. It is so neat. Looks like cooking is all you have left to do. Picture couldn't get much better if it is what I think it is. Would have liked it backed off of a little so I could see the edges of it. But 7 is still mighty good.PTL

can't tell if it's a cookie or concrete, cant really tell you why it's not appealing.
