The start of the "Battle of Stonington" 5K race.

Many of the runners appear to not trust the official clock and rely on their own wrist watches....

It's funny - I think it's habit or some such, as I've watched the guys in the Tour de France come across the finish line and punch the stop button on the little timer/speedometer thingies on their thousand dollar bikes. I guess it just makes it more real to have it on your own watch! Great catch of the action at the start, too.

That's funny that the one guy on this end is looking at his watch as if to see if it is time to begin yet. There is also the illusion at this size that the older gentleman in the center has a cig in his mouth LOL.
It's a good event, and I am sure that it is for a good cause. If nothing else, it's good to see people getting in shape instead of sitting around.
