 A true snapshot
I never tire of seeing these things. (While the urge is to want a ride, I understand they are very boring to ride.)
Was sitting on the deck. Kept hearing this droning sound. At first, I thought it was an ultralite. Went into the open and saw the blimp coming toward the house working hard against a headwind. Most likely heading back home to Akron for docking and service. Then, will probably be at Firestone for the Bridgestone Open. Ran into the house (almost breaking my leg) and got the camera. Of course, the wrong lens was on. Usually, I have the Tamron 28-75 as my walk around lens. Now? A 50 mm. Not great for distance but certainly was good for the light at hand. . . twilight.
Actually, turned out pretty good for a quick shot.

We only see these during big game season. I like the ones with the digital signs. These fascinate me more than they do the kids for some reason lol.

I have been inside the gondola on one of these when it was using the local airport as a base for nearby events. it's quite a trick to land one.
They make the coolest sound when they are traveling. This has good detail for the range and lens combination.

I too love to see these things and I always get pics if I have a camera with me.

hey steve ... loved the story .. i bet there have been quite a few injuries when photographers hurry to get THAT shot ..!!..:)

Come over to my place. Almost every week one flys overhead on its way back from the football to the airport. The cameras that shoot the game are in the blimp.
