This is a solpugid I caught here in Colorado, an average sized male. Lit using one SB900 and Orbis above right (the full size version actually has really nice catchlights in his eyes). I wish I hadn't chopped off the grasshoppers foot but it was somewhat difficult not to. Shot with 85mm 1.8 + extension tube.

I would've liked to see more contrast between prey, victim and background... though I suppose you couldn't really helpt that ;)

Content does not illustrate life and death in a single image. It does illustrate survival of one by the death of another. Still a nice shot.

There are alot of similar images to this, but this is the best one of that group. I love the DOF captured here. YOu can clearly see what two insects are involved. And the colors pop off the screen. Great capture.
