Challenge: Team Sports Without Players (Basic Editing I)
Collection: Portfolio
Camera: Olympus D-490Z
Location: Oakland, California, USA
Date: Jun 1, 2004
Aperture: 2.8
ISO: 149
Shutter: 1/30
Galleries: Humorous, Black and White
Date Uploaded: Jun 1, 2004

Macro mode, handheld, auto settings.

Curves and channel mixer used to convert to B&W.

Cropped to 2:1 pano, scaled, sharpened twice with settings of 88%, 0.8 dia, threshold 5.

Border added mainly to cover an ugly spot on the bottom of one of the cards which I couldn't clone or crop out, but which felt too distracting to leave.

This had strong potential to be one of you highest scoring images. It was just in the wrong challenge. :( This is a solid 8 atleast in the right challenge. Great DOF, clear, sharp, and excellent composition.

YOUr composition is effective. I think this is one time when color works better than B&W. It's a really long stretch for me to conside bridge a tem sport.

I've played bridge and it's no team sport :) :)

Well done shot with the high key treatment of all but the spades. One of my favorite shots this time around

Seems a bit over-exposed around the edges of the cards and the top of the pencil, resulting in a loss of detail.

great idea, too washed out for my taste, and too noisy, like it was shot at ISO 800 or so.

This looks slightly grainy - I'm wondering if it was intentional or not. It's a great idea for this challenge though. I know a bridge freak and I know how important that game can be to people. Good luck!

Bridge Sport
Bridge = Game
It's a nice picture though. Maybe even better if you flip the ace of spades upside right.
