I don't know why some parents get so bent out of shape when they see some 36 year old guy photographing their kids on the playground. They don't need to call the police -- just don't bring your kids to a public park! LOL, j/k!!

This is actually the daughter of a friend of mine. I stayed up high on the playground set and waited for the kids to make their way up and down the different slides and ladders. I took a couple different practice shots of this little rock climbing wall to get the aperture/dof right and then asked her to climb it. She couldn't have done it better. She even paused for a second when she saw me aiming the camera. :-)

There's two little things that bug me with this shot. There seems to be some slight movement in her hair. Shutter speed wasn't quite fast enough. And the rock wall feels as if it is sloped down to the right. But, her eyes are level, and that's the main concern.

Didn't do a whole lot to this shot. B&W, slight curve adjustment, contrast, brightness.

Does it have the staying power to make it into the top 5??

Great intensity in that gaze, and works very well in B&W in my opinion.

This is a very nice photo, and a style of photo I expected to see more of in the challenge... but surprisingly, there were very few of this type and I think this will do well as a result of not being one of an over done sub theme. The b&w processing suits this shot well... it's nice and sharp... only criticism of the composition is the amount of weight the rock at the centre bottom has in the image.
