Challenge: Never Seen on DPC! (Advanced Editing VII)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro
Date: Jun 23, 2009
Date Uploaded: Jun 24, 2009

A few nights ago I heard a bloodcurdling scream coming from the goat pen. When I went outside to check it out I saw this guy running away. I guess I was lucky to have taken my camera with me. I guess I am lucky to be alive.

****************

The south end of a north bound female goat. Rotated 180 degrees.

Thanks much, Don. I'm udderly thrilled.

ROFL!! ...and I thought it was some sort of vampire bat. Luckily I didn't vote on this challenge, so you didn't loose any well deserved points.... This is certainly a creative and memorable image. Well done!

Haha, that's priceless. So those are udders, not ears? And I thought it was done with mirrors! :-D

I honestly thought this was just the scariest bat ever.

Oh, you are KIDDING me! Damn, your goat is versatile!

From comments alone you should have gotten the Blue - you met the challenge in spades.

Even without having to look it up, even without the long while to figure out the ears, this is a very immediate human/beast pull to wonderment.

I feel slightly disturbed by this I am not sure what I am seeing, I hope no animal was harmed in the taking of this image.....

Very mysterious. Draws the viewer in...I want to see its face...sort of thing. Good work. Don't know what it is, but watch out and don't get too close, it might be...CHUPACABRA!

We in Texas know that the "goat suckers" are really pit bulls.

So great -- is this a cat lying on a mirror, with the photo rotated? Just guessing. What an intriguing, creepy photo, nice tones and shadows, and definitely offers something new.

* back to bump this up!

Thank goodness I'm not looking at this before bed. I'd have nightmares for sure! I like the fence shadow on the animal. For all I know it's just a cat.

But chupacabras are a reptile-like being, appearing to have leathery or scaly greenish-gray skin and sharp spines or quills running down its back...

comment only.

Granted, not an animal we see everyday and guess the fact that it has its back to us it adds to the overal mystery. at first I dismissed this as a snapshot but after reading a little about the Chupacabra the image makes more sense and I've grown to appreciate it more. Sadly, I think I'm in the minority so you may well be cursed by the dpc speed voter on this.

I like the framing of this and I like it as black and white. I wish more of it was in focus though.

I'm not sure what it is, but it's spooky, and I think that was your intent, so very successful.

This is odd... certainly fits the challenge topic, I guess... since I don't know what it is, I don't know if I've seen it before. LOL!

Studying it a bit more...

Trying to figure out all of that black shadow up top...

Oh! Wait. It's not the shadow, it's the light that's the subject. It's a cat by his arms? Hmmm.... (not voting)

This is a beautifully compelling image. I can't tell for sure what it is, but I'm guessing a bat of some sort. I really like the shallow DOF, and the shadows of the cage really make the image. Great toning as well. One of my top 3.

Nice! I would crop a little on the right to give more symettry... I like the shadows and the DOF...
Do you know what chupacabra means literally? Do you speak portuguese?

hmm, I'm almost afraid to know what this is since it looks like one dog sticking it's face in another dog's nether regions. Still, it fits the challenge
