This is an answer to a challenging challenge. I am sure it will bomb, because it is not very pretty!
It is the abutment for a bone anchored hearing aid, 9 weeks after surgery. The full story is here.
Minimal processing, including a crop, would have met the criteria for basic. Could not have been done without remote live view. I cannot see the site without the help of a mirror but the camera is better, giving me a greatly enlarged view.

That's bizarre! I'm going to have to check after the challenge to see who's this is. And why? LOL! 8

So I'm curious about the story on this one. Wth? The lower left ear is distracting but then again, I guess it provides more information about what you're looking at... or at least where.

Definitely unique. But I'm afraid it's not very interesting, IMO.

WHAT? Cool idea for finding something unique! I don't know how or why one gets this done. I'm hoping you'll have an explanation in the notes for us. (not voting)

my first reaction is "ewww" but after that, it looks like the focus is a tad bit off from the screw and more on his hair, but I have to agree that I've never seen this before on DPC so job well done

Crazy stuff!!
I like the composition (including this ear pice to contextualize the framing)
I just think that the titanium thing is a little OOF, but this is a shot that meets the challenge for sure!

Meets the challenge perfectly and whilst there is obviuosly a story here the image doesn't do anything for me sorry (comment only as I'm not voting).

This might actually be the first thing I've never seen on DPC. Well done!
