A fairly common bird here, but relatively difficult to get a good photo of, because they are not that easy to get close to.
This one had a nest nearby.
300mm f4.5 Nikkor ED IF, manual focus Ai. Hand held in sunlight.

Great shot! Did she put on her wounded bird act for you? They're supposed to be very good at that when protecting a nest.

So this is a Killdeer.. There was one that nested right in the middle of the playground at school can u imagine the noise at recess. They did rope off near her nest..
I didn't get over to see it unfortunately..

WOW! the detail on this picture is great. That's an interesting bird, I love the colors on his body and the white and black stripes around his neck, so beautiful. (Everytime that I see a bird picture from you, I can help but thinking about you image stabilizer picture, LOL)
