These Maytag wringer washers are over 30 years old. They have been converted to run on gasoline powered engines. The type you might find on a leaf blower or a string trimmer. These washers were part of the auction at the Mud Sale. These are highly prized by Amish women as they cannot use anything that operates by electricity unless it is run by by batteries.

That seems kind of silly that they can pollute with gasoline and throw away batteries, but not electricity!!

nothing against ppl's beliefs, but i wonder what the difference is between battery run and electricity .. its basically the same .. or is it that they want to be totally self sufficient .. ??
still they're not .. the materials the washing machines are made of were produced in factories ..
wotever .. its an interesting glimpse into a totally different way of life .. :) ..
