 A horned toad in my driveway. It was remarkably placid, letting me get very close to shoot.

A sad footnote: yesterday I found the creature dead beside the driveway, being eaten by ants. Not sure the cause of death. No obvious injuries. Maybe just old age.

What a wonderful expression. Could be used in a classroom lesson about animal coloration helping to hide them in their environment.
