Unedited Version

These are my two boys on the school track team. Charlie (13) is our distance runner and James (11) is the speed demon. Luckily for us, the get along really well. My friend Sheryl McCarthy took this shot at a track meet I couldn't make. The original had some distracting elements, but playing here at DPC has allowed me to take a snap and deliver a keeper. Thanks guys!

A couple folks asked about cloning of the fence. It was actually easier than I thought it would be. I picked a corner of one section of fence and then selected 100% opacity and cloned 2 to 3 sections over. Since the fence was parallel to camera, it was a straight crop and replace. Sometimes it pays to get lucky.

Re-edited and posted based on feedback from Judi, Mark-A and a few others. You guys continue to ROCK!

This is a great family photo, and you did a fantastic job of removing the distractions. You might want to do a little more work on the top of the fence where you removed the lady in blue between the boys. The pipe is a little thin, and it is lacking one of those bumps where the fence is tied to the pipe. However, if you hadn't posted the original, I wouldn't have been looking so closely at that area, and wouldn't have noticed those small details I mentioned.

Great cover up work. The only area I would rework is the foliage between the boys...there are some cloning patterns visible.

Great job, I don't notice a thing! A wonderful shot to work with too. Neither of them are touching the ground!

Awesome job getting the people out of the background! That fence had to take some patience.

Good job. The only thing that is noticeable is where the hurdle was removed from the track (pink background) -- but I probably wouldn't have noticed it if I wasn't looking for it.

However, for all the PP skills you've learned at DPC, you forgot to add Godzilla.

Hey cool! My kids went to Sacred Heart, albeit the Ocean Beach, San Diego iteration :-)

Nice 'shopping, dude!

Good job. How tough was it to deal with the pattern of that chain link fence?

No kidding! Knowing where things were I can see a bit when I study it, especially where the nearest hurdle upright was, but if I didn't know where to look I'd certainly never guess. Great work. And yes, DPC and what it can teach us IS awesome! :)
