Shot for the 'unusual' challenge but feel its better placed in the FS. I'd love to see my 3rd 7+ score with this as I really like it.

Simple set up, just stood in front of the cam in a dark room, set the cam to 1 second exposure with the 580EX flashing twice whilst I 'struck the pose'

Out of the cam

I like this a lot, Andi! You did an amazing job bringing out the detail.

I really like it. I am a little jaded by the strange way free studies are judged so much more brutally than other challenges. This photo and its score just further confirms my unhappy heart about the matter. It's like they are conditioned for those knock-your-socks-off Icelandic or Pacific Coast land/sea scapes, or a Middle Eastern portrait -- and anything else is darn sure going to pay. I'm sorry you "paid". It is an amazing technique pulled off to perfection!

Seven in a FS is very hard to get. Actually, seven in ANY challenge is quite a 'challenge' to get.

This is good. And interesting. I like the ears heart.

But, competing with FS entries will always be tougher than the usual competition. :)

It's good and sharp, amazingly so for 'two' shots. Congrats on a fine FS score!

Sheesh, getting a 6+ is like pulling teeth round here. Except for Deb and Sarah, that is ;) So glad to see it kept afloat, congrats, wish it had scored better for you.

And ditto Enzo's comment - it's a work of art.

this is awesome...apart from the blown out highlights on the ear, it's a work of art...would equally look good as a b and w

Ok Andi, I'll give it to you straight. I wouldn't be at all surprised if a lot of voters think this is a combined mirror image put together in photoshop. It's nigh on perfect in terms of alignment, and when most folk zoom through voting, they tend to miss the details, making egregious assumptions in the process!

You've done something pretty advanced here, and well... there just aren't that many advanced photographers making up the dpc voting masses. Heck, I still get the odd comment or two alluding to post processing...

Suggestion: Dumb it down in future.

[shrugs] But shouldn't be a sub 6 score by any stretch of the imagination anyway. Maybe no-one likes you? ;P

Andi, I'm at a total loss to figure out why this is not scoring higher. I do hope and expect it to pull up. It's a great shot.
