This is a miniature car about 4 inches long. It was shot with an 18mm lens to give it that wide feel but at f/16 to get close enough but not make the depth of field look miniature. I used a Lumiquest 12x12 diffuser on my flash directly above the car pointed straight down-- similar to what they do with real car ads with a soft light source that's bigger than the car, although because it's miniature I could get away with a much smaller light source. I used a real 1950s Bel Air ad as a model and borrowed the text from it. You have to love that 1950s copy!

Post processing:
Camera Raw - minor tweaks to white balance, fill light, recovery, clarity, sharpen
CS4 - rotate slightly, crop, dodge/burn, add text
Lightroom - play with some faded photo presets to try to get a more vintage look, then adjusted colors from there
CS4 - cloned out some dust, save for web

Real or Memorex? Is it a model car? :/

Would work better if it were a real car :)

Sorry but it's too obvious it's a model car. the DOF is too shallow with the focus on the windshield not the more intersting part - the front.

The car in this looks fake, and not like a photo. Maybe it is the softness of the image, or the way the light is, but to me it looks like a poster and not a photograph.
I am not a fan of the light reflecting strongly off the windshield. It draws attention and gives the photo an overexposed feel.
Overall ad composition is good, however the image in this case lets it down.

Love the effort to create that classic 1950s advert style. the rich glossy finish, the high intensity lighting - very nice job

Kind of looks slightly out of focus, or intentionally soft focused? The car actually looks like a model of Bel Air????? The wing window frame doesn't look quite right, the side molding looks "fat", door handles don't look right.
