Wow I had hopes this would do well but I never imagined it would be 5th! Thanks for all the votes and comments. And two favorites!! I actually was going to shoot something else, glad I went with this idea instead. I figured there would be similar entries so I decided to wrap the stem around the bulb, thinking it might help it be a little more unique and well, pretty. :)

This was shot in a homemade lightbox. I used poster putty to stick the bulb in place standing up (I was really scared it was going to fall over and break LOL). I taped the ends of the stem down to wrap it around the bulb and used more poster putty to position the flower in place.

Post processing I just auto leveled, cloned out the putty and a small corner of tape that could be seen, and burned part of the stem to make it stand out more.

I like the colors of the flower and how the stem wraps around with the bulb. How did you get the bulb to stand up straight?

Great way to integrate the two sides. This works best out of the light plants.

Popular idea, nicely executed. Not sure the sheer amount of negative space adds much here; closing up to the subject would give more impact I think.

By far the best of this type - A little more light in the middle of the flower would have made it even better.

A lot of CFI's in this challenge. Sure hope we know what we're going to do with the mercury.

This is a great shot. I submitted a similar image, however this is MUCH better. The lighting and setup on your photo work great. My favorite.

Best use of this concept I've seen so far. Nice clean composition, well-lit, sharp. Great job.

Nice image and a good interpretation but a bit too central IMO.

Great subject. I feel that the lighting is not strong enough on the top portion, even though it's strong enough to cast a shadow of the bulb.
